When Laravel is the right choice
Laravel fits projects that go beyond pages and posts: client portals, booking and quoting systems, membership areas, multi-step forms, dashboards, integrations with other software and sites where security matters. It is also a strong choice for marketing sites that need a bespoke, fast front end and an admin built around the way your team works.
How I build
- Current versions: PHP 8 and the latest Laravel release, with dependencies kept up to date.
- Admin panels: Filament or custom Livewire screens, designed around your content rather than a generic CMS.
- Interfaces: server-rendered Blade with Alpine.js for most sites, and Vue or React through Inertia when an interface needs to behave like an app.
- Quality: automated tests for the features that matter, code review before release and a staging site for you to check changes.
Security built in
Laravel protects against cross-site request forgery, SQL injection and mass assignment out of the box. On top of that I add rate-limited logins, validated input everywhere, sensible security headers and a regular update routine, as covered in website security and maintenance.
Fast by default
Server-rendered pages, bundled and cached assets, efficient database queries and properly sized images keep Laravel sites quick on real phones. The approach is set out in how to build a fast Laravel website that ranks.
Proof
One legacy site I moved to Laravel became three times faster and its team now manages content without a developer; see the Laravel rebuild case study. For larger custom systems, see custom web applications.
