The challenge
The business ran on an old custom PHP site on outdated hosting. Pages were slow on mobile, a security review found 18 issues, and every content change needed a developer, so the site was rarely updated.
What we did
- Migration plan: mapped every existing URL and set redirects so search rankings carried over.
- Laravel rebuild: server-rendered pages, optimised images and bundled assets, with nothing loaded that a page did not need.
- Security: modern authentication, validated input everywhere, rate-limited logins and up-to-date dependencies.
- Admin panel: a custom content area so the team could edit pages, news and SEO fields themselves.
The results
Pages now load three times faster, the Lighthouse performance score reached 96, Core Web Vitals moved into the green, and all 18 security issues were resolved. The client's team now publishes updates themselves.
